Conservatories - Glazing and roofing

Apart from the options listed in the earlier 'General Style and option considerations' part of this Buyers Guide, there are three glass types that are particularly relevant in their application for conservatories. These are:

Toughened safety glass - a safe when shattered glass that should be used throughout on a conservatory.

Low-E glass - with so much glass acting as a barrier between your home and the outdoor climate, the special coating on Low-E glass helps to reflect heat back into the room and offers a high level of insulation. Particularly suitable for north facing conservatories.

Anti-Sun Glass - a special glass that helps to reflect excess summer glare and heat and can act as an effective shield against UV rays that can fade soft furnishings.

Roofing
We recommend that you take your time when choosing this important feature as it will change the use of your conservatory. Glass or polycarbonate sheets are generally used to roof a conservatory. Polycarbonate is used for its high thermal insulation properties but very popular are the high insulation / self cleaning glass options now available - ask your dealer for details.
